Toronto to Kugluktuk

After a day and a half of travel we’ve arrived in Kugluktuk.  We flew from Toronto to Calgary and then on to Yellowknife.  When we landed in Yellowknife we were greeted by a polar bear.

Our flight to Kugluktuk was leaving the next day so we took the opportunity to explore Yellowknife and eat fish with the locals.

Fortunately, we were tired from our travelling and were able to fall asleep even though there was only 2 hours of dark that evening. We were up bright and early to watch the Royal wedding and then were off to the airport where we boarded our plane to Kugluktuk.

Today we spent our time getting the school ready for the children.

We were lucky enough to have a local carver come by to show us his marvelous carvings; we may have purchased a few.

Tomorrow we have a day off and are being taken out on the land and plan to do some ice fishing.
